Excitingly for Saints fans, the names being mentioned are not the usual Sam Allardyces and Neil Warnocks who seem to be linked to just about every job outside the Premier League`s elite. Instead some big names from around the continent are apparently on the shortlist to replace the Dutchman.

Unai Emery is already making Saints fans look forward to life after Ronald Koeman. The St. Marys faithful will be dreaming of the Spaniard winning his fourth consecutive Europa League title on England`s South Coast having guided Sevilla to three successive victories. He`s reported to be interested in a move to the Premier League and is rumoured to have been on Southampton`s radar before. Odds: 6/1

Frank De Boer is another impressive name said to be in the running to replace Koeman. The former Ajax boss has just left the Dutch giants having lost the title on the final day of the season to PSV. However, in 2014 he became the first manager to win four consecutive Eredivisie titles with the same club. Many parallels can be drawn with Koeman who like De Boer, was a top defender in his playing days and has since had success as a manager in Holland. A free agent at the moment, he could prove to be a cheap yet shrewd option for the club. Odds: 3/1

Manuel Pellegrini is a familiar name in English football having managed Manchester City for the past three seasons. He averaged a trophy a season at the club with a Premier League title and two League Cup victories to his name. Having previously managed Real Madrid, Pellegrini is an attractive name who has plenty of European experience under his belt froms his spells in Madrid and Manchester as well as with Malaga and Villarreal. This could prove vital ahead of Southampton`s upcoming European campaign in the 2016/17 season. Odds: 4/1

Eddie Howe has by far the least impressive CV of any manager being linked with Saints at the moment. Two spells at Bournemouth either side of a short stint at Burnley are not comparable to the European experience of the other managers in the frame. However, Howe is highly regarded having taken minnows Bournemouth from the bottom of League Two to their first ever Premier League spell. Known for an attractive style of football similar to that played at St. Marys in recent years, Howe has been tipped as a future England manager and is surely certain to take the step up from the Cherries in the near future. Whether that`s a short trip along the South Coast or elsewhere remains to be seen. Odds: 3/1

Andre Villas-Boas The former Chelsea and Tottenham boss is only 38 and already boasts an impressive CV with spells at Porto and Zenit St. Petersburg coming either side of his spell in England. Since leaving Portuguese side Academica in 2010, he has boasted a win rate of over 50% in each of his jobs with the exception of his spell in West London. Having recently left Zenit, he is thought to be among the favourites to take over the St. Marys hotseat. Odds: 4/1
