With speculation earlier in the day suggesting that Southampton striker Charlie Austin had travelled to the Midlands for talks and a medical with West Bromwich Albion, plenty of fans would’ve been delighted with that news.

50% Of The News All Southampton Fans Wanted To Hear Has Now Happened

The update is even better and we now hit the 100% mark as the club have confirmed that he has now completed an undisclosed fee permanent transfer to The Hawthorns.

After three and a half years at St Mary’s Stadium, 30-year-old Austin leaves having made 81 appearances, with a return of 20 goals, and especially in light of how the relationship with the fans quickly soured towards the end of his time with us, it’s certainly in everyone’s best interests that there was a parting of the ways.

There were of course better memories and his VAR meltdown was definitely a high point, so I think plenty will simply wish him well for the future, as we keep our focus on our future.

The belief is we’ve received £4million for him, which isn’t too bad at all really.
