The club confirmed on their official website that the youth academy graduate will again play his football in the states after joining the New Jersey-based franchise on loan until the end of the Premier League season after Sims impressed during his brief stint with the Red Bulls in the 2019 MLS campaign.
Should Southampton let Sims go for good?
Yes
No
The news, though, was a shock to plenty of Saints supporters on social media as many believed that the 22-year-old winger will remain a part of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first-team plans for the second half of the season.
Here’s what lots of Southampton fans had to say on Twitter about the surprise loan deal that takes Sims back to the eastside of America…
He deserves a chance always looked bright when he came on as sub.

Josh Sims departing the club again is sad for sure, but it will quickly be forgotten once we replace him with Gareth Bale. Right guys? Guys??? #SaintsFC https://t.co/dp0RuYwAJL

As stats from Transfermarkt show, Sims only managed a single goal and assist in his short spell with the Red Bulls last year.
