Hasenhuttl Makes A “Guarantee” To Southampton Fans After Wolves Win

|

Southampton went into today’s Premier League clash with high flying promoted side Wolverhampton Wanderers knowing it would be a tough game.

Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl was hopeful that with both sides trying to play football the right way, that it would be an interesting encounter as we looked to bounce back from our last defeat and open that gap on the relegation places wider.

It was the perfect start as Nathan Redmond opened the scoring two minutes in, and although Wolves equalised just ahead of the half-hour mark, two minutes after their leveller Redmond had his brace and had restored our one goal advantage.

In the second half Shane Long made it two goals in his last two games to tie the score up at 3-1 and although the visitors dominated possession and had far more chances at goal in total, we got six between the sticks and they only managed two on target, so we saw the game out pretty comfortably really.

Speaking to the BBC following the final whistle, our Austrian gaffer said of the game.

“We lost here not long ago against Cardiff and it seemed it (relegation) would go right to the end, so we are very happy. I can guarantee we will do everything we can to get to 40 points.”
