Southampton’s 1-1 home draw against Manchester United was a very good point for the Saints, and it wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the dominant display put in by Jannik Vestergaard.

The colossal defender put in a strong shift at the back helping to limit Manchester United to just the one goal, and he bagged the Saints’ equaliser too, his first goal in red and white for the south coast club.
Last season was the first in which the Dane didn’t bag in a domestic league season since the 2012/13 season, Transfermarkt, so getting off to a scoring start is certainly a step in the right direction for the defender and the fans absolutely loved it.

Was top defending scorer in Germany for 2 years running before us. About time goal wise but what a performance overall with Bednarek #Coys

Great to see the big man score his first goal. Tough gritty performance from the team but some silly mistakes. But really well done lads. Good game

The Saints loved seeing Vestergaard bag his first goal for the club and will be hopeful that they’re not waiting as long for his next goal.
