Some Southampton fans have been posting on social media their best memories of our 3-2 victory over Sheffield United in 2008, in what was a momentous day for the club.
The result meant that we secured our Championship status, having been on the brink of relegation, which saw Leicester City condemned to League One.
A brace from Stern John and a goal from Marek Saganowski sealed victory for us which meant our time in England’s second-tier would continue.
Was Stern John's time at Southampton a success?
Yes
No
Manager Nigel Pearson said that he was relieved after the match, stating that it looked like we were going to be on the wrong side of the result and not knowing what the other scores were in the other games, with the Foxes being held to a 0-0 draw to Stoke City.
With this in mind, supporters posted their best memories of the afternoon’s proceedings on social media. One fan said that he remembers the day vividly.
I remember that day vividly! I was driving around for hours listening to the game on the radio!!
