Southampton made it back to back victories for the first time this season as new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl continues to look to turn our poor form around and we thoroughly deserved victory over Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

Nathan Redmond got us underway and we went into the halftime break with a 2-0 advantage as Danny Ings scored from the penalty spot. Although the hosts pulled one back just ahead of the hour mark, Michael Obafemi’s first senior goal made it 3-1 and that’s how the game finished.

Statistics website Whoscored gave their Man of the Match rating to Redmond with a score of 7.90. He also helped himself to an assist on the day with a considerably improved performance.

The top five best performers on the day saw another man who significantly improved his showing take second place – Jannik Vestergaard with 7.71. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oriol Romeu and Maya Yoshida then followed.

Ings, Obafemi and Stuart Armstrong also took seven-plus scores from the game, and we just have to hope this continues now but at least there is hope for fans finally.
