The January transfer window seemingly can’t come soon enough for Southampton, and Ralph Hasenhuttl looks ready to make moves this winter.
Hasenhuttl will reportedly receive the backing of the board to make up to three new signings in January, with a”top-quality” centre-back and a right-back Hasenhuttl’s main priority as the board aim to shore-up our extremely poor defence. #SaintsFC

According to The Mirror via HITC, the Saints will be looking to make as many as three signings when the January transfer window opens for business in seven weeks time, with a ‘top-quality’ centre-back reportedly a priority for Hasenhuttl as he aims to fix his incredibly leaky defence.
With the Premier League table showing that Southampton have conceded the most goals this season out of any club in the division, some Saints supporters on social media are eager for the club to go ahead with this reported shopping list and sign a quality defender, yet some fans, though, weren’t convinced anything will happen in January.
Here’s what some Southampton fans had to say about the club’s potential winter transfer plans on Twitter…
Absolutely no chance whatsoever.

Let’s be honest, the papers are quoting ‘top quality’ but what that actually means is players costing £12-20m, who could reach top quality after 2-3 years of making their mistakes with #SaintsFC
And guess what’ll happen when/if they do reach top form…

Some supporters, though, thought the club had left it too late to make new signings for an affordable price…
We will see. Could be more broken promises. A top CB in Jan will probably cost over 25m and I can’t see that happening

Encouraging but probably a window too late

Southampton face Arsenal after the international break, with Hasenhuttl’s side in desperate need for three points.
