Southampton defender Wesley Hoedt has been offered the chance to sign for the Turkish outfit Galatasaray, according to reports.

The 26-year-old is currently on loan at the Belgian side Royal Antwerp, with his team’s season already over after the decision was made to draw the curtain on the campaign sooner.

Fans were keen to see the back of Hoedt after he originally hinted that he wanted to move to a club on a permanent basis.

According to Fotomac (via Sport Witness), Galatasaray will have the opportunity to take the Dutchman away from St Mary’s once the 2019/20 season is brought to a close.

The report adds that the Premier League side offered Hoedt to the Turkish giants in meetings that took place regarding the future of Mario Lemina, who has also been strongly linked with a move to the Turk Telekom Stadi.

Hoedt signed for the Saints for £15m back in August 2017 from the Serie A outfit Lazio and has a wretched time on the South Coast. From 45 appearances for us, he has only scored once and provided one assist from over 4,000 minutes of play and has been heavily criticised for some of his displays, with others rejoicing over the fact he picked up an injury.

With football now all over in Belgium, Hoedt is now waiting for his next move. The best move for both parties would be that the former Holland international departs from the club.

In order to move forward up the Premier League table as a team, deadwood needs to be disposed of. Unfortunately, Hoedt comes under that category and must be moved on by Ralph Hasenhuttl.
