Lots of Southampton fans believe that defender Wesley Hoedt’s time is over at St Mary’s.
The Dutch centre-back recently spoke to Het Nieuwsblad (via Sport Witness) and told them that he is seeking a permanent move away from the South Coast in search for first-team football once the 2019/20 campaign comes to a close.
The 26-year-old has been on loan in Belgium this season with the Jupiler Pro League side Royal Antwerp.
Does Wesley Hoedt have a future at Southampton?
Yes
No
Hoedt is not highly-regarded by the Saints faithful by any means and some previously rejoiced over the fact he picked up an injury.
With football brought to a close in Belgium, Hoedt is now waiting for the right moment to return to Hampshire where he will make his next move.
Unsurprisingly, supporters were furious with Hoedt and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he has been an “absolute waste of money”, while another stated that he “has to go”.

We’ve had some rotten central defenders over the years, and he’s right up their with the best (worst) of them.
