Southampton may turn their focus to Spezia forward David Okereke after feeling frustrated with their attempts of signing Che Adams, according to a report in The Daily Mail.

The Saints did lodge a £14million bid for the Birmingham striker but that has not been accepted. Not long after the bid was made Blues manager Garry Monk was fired.

Adams scored 22 goals in the Championship last season but Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl will now have to concentrate on finding alternatives, according to the report.

Okereke has represented Nigeria at U23 level. Last season he scored 10 goals and provided 12 assists from his 30 league appearances in the Italian second-flight. The 21-year-old can play on the wing or as a striker and is valued at £5.4million on Transfermarkt.

The Daily Mail claims the Nigerian attacker has also been linked with Premier League duo West Ham and Crystal Palace in the past.

However, The Evening Standard claim the Hammers want to sign Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, while Football.London suggests the Eagles could be interested in Alexandar Mitrovic or Daniel Sturridge.
