A tackle to ultimately decided the outcome of a result can often be seen as a positive moment for supporters, but not for Southampton fans it seems.

In the second half of the Saints 2-2 draw with Arsenal, defender Jan Bednarek made a crucial block to deny Nicolas Pepe from allowing Mesut Ozil an easy chance to give the Gunners the lead, seemingly being a moment that saved Southampton a draw in the long-run of the game.
Will Southampton claim Premier League survival?
Yes
No
Bednarek’s tackle saved Southampton a point, but Saints supporters on social media had a problem with the media team bigging up the match-deciding action as something to celebrate days after the game, with fans taking issue the mentality of the club that still sit in the relegation zone of the Premier League table.
Here’s what Southampton fans had to say about Bednarek’s match-deciding tackle, with lots supporters slamming the club for bigging up a moment from a match that the Saints should have won…
Commitment level 100 would have been NOT conceding in the 96th minute……even th social media team is deluded

A game there for the taking and we still manage not to win.

Now it’s woeful finishing when it has been hopeless defending. The problems run right through the team. The 7 games between now and year end will determine whether we stay up. 15 points needed to be on track to stay up ; can’t see how we will get them.

Now get our finishing levels to 10. Don’t even need them to be but we should’ve put arsenal to bed in that game.

Some fans, though, questioned where this level of commitment had been all season…
If 100% commitment = 9 points in 13 games then we really are in trouble but it’s ok everyone we’ll have a pretty light show and some pyrotechnics next weekend for the 5:30 kick off!! #saintsfc

They get paid for 100% commitment every game if we had that every week maybe we would not be in the mess we’re in
— mark rogers (@1960msr) November 25, 2019
It’s not commitment it’s chaotic disorganised last ditch defending and is a lot of the reason we’re in this mess. What’s next a show reel of chances we should have scored ? #saintsfc

This is embarrassing.

Southampton next face off against Watford in the Premier League, the only side in the league doing worse than the Saints.
