In the ranking of physical pains that hurt but don’t really cause that much damage, stubbing your toe is up there along with stepping on a rogue Lego brick or whacking your funny bone, yet Sofiane Bofual has managed to cause serious damage to himself from the former.

Ralph Hasenhuttl admitted in his pre-match press conference ahead of Southampton’s must-win fixture against Watford that the Moroccan international had stubbed his big toe at home, resulting in the former Lille attacker missing three days of training and making him a doubt for this weekend’s game.
Will Southampton's season kick-off from here?
Absolutely
No way, we need major improvements
With the likes of Dave Beasant severing a tendon in his big toe after dropping a bottle of salad cream to Paul Gascoigne injuring Bryan Robson by accidentally dropping a bed on his foot and breaking a toe as per 90min, Boufal has now joined the pantheon of hilarious footballing injuries, and Southampton supporters had a field day on social media with it.
Here’s what Southampton fans had to say about Boufal’s oddly funny injury on social media, with plenty of supporters seeing the funny side to one of their star attackers potentially being out due to a stubbed toe…
Genuinely thought that was a wind up until I saw who tweeted. Frustrating. Sofiane should be fine by Sat eve tbf Ad.

A win for Southampton on Saturday can see the Saints go as close as one point off Premier League safety in the league table.
