Despite absolutely dominating the clash against Newcastle United at St Mary’s last Saturday, Southampton continue to hunt for a second win of the Premier League season in 2018/19.
Hosting Rafa Benitez’s struggling side on home soil, Southampton created 22 chances in total but managed to get only four on target and although the defensive display was improved – whether that was more down to the opposition and their own lacklustre manner in front of goal is open for debate.
Despite at least better effort up top in this one, Saints are now ten games into the season and we have seven points to show for our efforts and a minus eight goal difference. Given the other results at the weekend we are only two points from the relegation zone now as well.

Enough is enough. Hughes needs to be replaced immediately or we will be relegated.

Two clean sheets in a row! What’s not to like?! But Who the heck are we going to beat if we can’t score!? Newcastle are a poor team

Cant even score against a poor newcastle team, we are in trouble.

Southampton 0 Newcastle 0. Still just the one Premier League win at St Mary’s in 2018

Im guessing as long as were not in the relegation zone there won’t be any real threat of Hughes losing his job – something needs to change

Pressure is mounting on manager Mark Hughes and although ‘Hughes Out’ isn’t new, it was a call that appeared to be boosted following this match – especially on social media – as the above comments ably show.
