The 4-0 win against Portsmouth last month in the League Cup will go down in Southampton history as one of their best performances against their rivals, and it birthed a new icon for the club.

Danny Ings was catapulted into Saints folklore after the former Liverpool man scored twice at Fratton Park to play a big part in the victory for Southampton, and to leave his mark in club history for good.
And after an analysis piece from the club’s official website showed how well the striker performed, fans yet again took the chance on social media to praise Ings.
