“You Need Luck” – Hasenhuttl Pleased With Southampton Efforts

|

Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl celebrated a return to actual football earlier today as Southampton made the trip to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton and Hove Albion.

With the March international break and the layout of the fixture list, Southampton were last in action on March 9 as we fought back to take a solid three points from Tottenham Hotspur. Against Brighton we’d find out if that long break had been to our benefit, or had got in the way of any potential momentum.

It was a scrappy game as fans would’ve expected and although Brighton had more of the ball and greater chances overall, we got two on target compared to their one – but we made one of ours count to take all three points and move five points away from the dropzone.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg secured the only goal of the game to make it back to back wins and all that mattered was the three points.

Speaking to the BBC following the end of the game, our Austrian gaffer said of the 90 minutes.

“It was a massive win for us. We played a good game today. The last three weeks we tried to work with this new shape. You need luck – that is normal. But if you work like this then you deserve that little bit of luck. It’s important to take as many wins as possible until the end of the season. We feel comfortable in the way we play.”
