These Southampton fans were fighting the corner of club legend Mick Channon in the latest vote on the all-time Fantasy XI.
The club’s official Twitter account were looking for the final forward to complete our historic star-studded line-up that represented the great players that have worn the famous red and white stripes over the years.
The former Saints striker made his debut for us at the age of 17 after joining the club as an apprentice in 1965 and made two stints at The Dell. The first one lasting 12 years and the latter for a further three.
Channon was a goalscoring machine for us. In total, he managed to find the net 227 times in 480 appearances for us, placing him in the limelight as the club’s all-time top goalscorer.
Does Mick Channon deserve his place?
Yes
No
Because of this, supporters voted overwhelmingly in his favour and pleaded his case on social media. One fan said that he deserves to be in “all day long”, while another described him as a “legend” and added it was “no competition”.
Got to be Channon 👍🏻
