He shares his name with a Brazilian and intercontinental footballing legend. But once upon a time, he was all ours.
That’s right, he is Graziano Pelle. The 34-year-old moved to the South Coast from the Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord and was with us at St Mary’s for just two seasons, before his move to the Chinese Super League outfit SD Luneng.
Pelle had a sensational first season for Southampton, with 12 goals and two assists in 38 Premier League appearances which helped us finish seventh under Ronald Koeman.
Is Graziano Pelle a Saints legend?
Yes
No
Following this, the former Italy international went on to score 30 goals in 80 outings. Despite his stint being a short one, there is no doubting it was a successful one.
Unsurprisingly, supporters showered Pelle with praise and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he was “hugely underrated”, while another said that he has “never been replaced”.
