And this motivation has come at the perfect time for Southampton, who welcome 20th place Watford to St. Mary’s this weekend in what is likely to be a massive game in the race for Premier League survival with the Saints currently down in 19th in the league standings.
Will Southampton's season kick-off from here?
Absolutely
No way, we need major improvements
Three points will be massive for Southampton, and the club have offered more motivation of sorts to supporters and the first-team by releasing a video of Rickie Lambert’s hat-trick against Watford in the Championship days in 2012 on the Saints official Twitter account, with fans on social media enjoying what they saw from their club legend.
Here’s what some Southampton fans had to say about Lambert’s throwback hat-trick against Watford on Twitter…
How iconic is this man to SFC, could do with him right now (alongside Ings).
