Lots of Southampton fans exploded with delight after it was announced that manager Ralph Hasenhuttl agreed to a new contract at St Mary’s.
The club officially announced on Tuesday morning that the Austrian tactician had put pen to paper on a four-year extension. Along with Hasenhuttl, first-team assistant coach Richard Kitzbichler has also lengthened his stay on the South Coast.
The boss has become an appreciated figure in the home team dressing room and has received glowing praise from the likes of defender Ryan Bertrand during his time in England.
Is Hasenhuttl still the right man for the job?
Yes, he needs more time
No, he's out of ideas
From 60 matches in charge, the 52-year-old has accumulated a points-per-game average of 1.25, which includes 21 victories, 75 points and 85 goals scored, as per TransferMarkt.
Unsurprisingly, supporters were captivated by the news and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan believes that we are now in with a shot of qualifying for Europe, while another described the news as “fantastic”.
