Southampton secured a vital 2-1 win against fellow Premier League strugglers Watford at St Mary’s on Saturday as goals from Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse helped the Saints come from a goal down to gain all three points.
Ward-Prowse’s excellent late free-kick has been praised, but Danny Ings has been in excellent form this season and scored his ninth goal of the season on Saturday.
Ings’ goal was scrappy, but he showed a poaching instinct to smash the ball in just 12 minutes from time to equalise for Southampton and to help spark an excellent comeback against the Hornets.
Fans have been impressed with Ings’ contributions recently as he has now scored in three consecutive fixtures for the Saints.
I guess that’s what we call a fox in the box β½οΈ #SaintsFC

Others were more willing to focus on Moussa Djenepo’s direct play leading to the assist, while some highlighted how Djeneppo handled the ball in the build-up to Ings’ equaliser.
Djenepo is seriously good. Him and Boufal fantastic skills, if only we could have the players to let these two released to express the outrageous talent

Despite some focussing on the controversy surrounding Djenepo’s contribution to the goal, there is no doubt that Ings is in top form and, if he can keep fit, his goals could be decisive in Southampton’s attempts to climb out of the relegation zone over the Christmas period.
