‘Incredible performance’ – Fans react to Saints players who featured on international duty

|

Eight Southampton players were away representing their respective countries over the international break recently and these fixtures will have given the players a chance to change the tough environment they have found themselves in at the club recently as they sit 19th in the Premier League after only picking up eight points from their opening 12 matches.

From the eight players, who were playing for international teams across Europe, Africa and Asia, Maya Yoshida experienced a notable moment when representing Japan as they played Kyrgyzstan last week as he received his 100th cap for his country.

Elsewhere, Saints skipper Pierre-Emile Højbjerg featured in Denmark’s tight 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland as his team managed to secure their place in next year’s Euro’s.

Kevin Danso also captained Austria at under 21 level on Monday and he scored the winner in their 1-0 win over Hungary.

Some fans were impressed with how their players fared in the international fixtures, while others were left underwhelmed by some of the performances of the Saints players.
