Southampton Academy graduate and former England Under 21 midfielder James Ward-Prowse was celebrating his 24th birthday yesterday.
Whilst there’s plenty for the lad, not so young anymore, to learn as he continues to develop as a player there’s no doubt with only four appearances to his name so far in the season of 2018/19 under manager Mark Hughes, it’ll have come as a disappointment to the player himself, not just his admirers amongst the fanbase.
We're also wishing a happy birthday to @Prowsey16 as he turns 24! ????#saintsfc pic.twitter.com/s8TzQOBpnR

With the club announcing both his and Hughes’ special days yesterday, reactions from the fanbase to the announcement were probably what you would’ve expected them to be in the case of both, but certainly JWP.

Exactly! Wasted talent sitting on the bench or not even in the squad!

Never better than when @Prowsey16 on the pitch. Sort it out Hughes!

Wasted talent

Happy Birthday @Prowsey16, a player that I feel can unlock goals given a run of games.

As the above shows, there were plenty of comments talking about how his talent was being wasted at this moment in time, and plenty wanted to see more of him on the pitch once more and comments like that were always going to be the case even if most stopped simply at wishing him a happy birthday.
