Plenty of Southampton fans showered defender Kyle Walker-Peters for the part he played during his side’s shock 1-0 victory against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Saints managed to topple last season’s Premier League champions after withstanding an intense barrage of attacks from the Citizens, which was decided by a moment of brilliance.

Che Adams’ spectacular first-half strike was enough to beat Pep Guardiola’s side after spotting Ederson off his line and got his first goal in a red and white shirt. However, he wasn’t the only player that found himself in the limelight.

Walker-Peters played a starring role in a stunning collective defensive display from the hosts and, somehow, managed to keep a clean sheet.

Per Sofascore, the Spurs loanee managed to successfully complete six clearances, three tackles, five interceptions and accumulated a pass success rate of 76%. A solid defensive performance against top-class opposition.

Unsurprisingly, supporters were delighted with Walker-Peters’ outing and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he must “sign on the dotted line”, while others described him as “unreal” and “top class”.
