Southampton produced an excellent display in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday but Ralph Hasenhüttl will be frustrated to come away with just one point after Alexandre Lacazette’s 96th-minute equaliser.
Despite having to share the points, it was a welcome result for the Saints as they are now just two points off 17th placed Aston Villa following a poor run of form which saw them lose their previous four games before Saturday’s fixture.
It was a much-improved performance from Southampton and fans were particularly impressed with opening goalscorer, Danny Ings, who found the net from close range after Ryan Bertrand played in the striker from a quick free-kick.
Ings has been in excellent form this season, despite Southampton’s poor start, scoring six goals in 13 appearances.
He was never good enough for a team with Liverpool’s aspirations, but Danny Ings is having an excellent season with Southampton. Two ACL injuries later, he’s still a very good Premier League striker. You’d have to be happy for him.

Never been a fan of his as a footballer. Seems a decent bloke and seriously reevaluating my thoughts on him as a footballer .That goal ratio in a poor team is fantastic. Well played Danny Ings.

Danny Ings is in the form of his life.
He's the only reason we have a chance in games right now. #SaintsFC pic.twitter.com/y7h3VLooNp

I don’t care what anyone says, Danny Ings is up there with the best strikers in the premier league.

Some fans were also quick to point out the fact that Ings has managed to maintain an excellent goal scoring record against some of the top teams so far this season.
Danny Ings has scored against Liverpool , Chelsea , Spurs and Arsenal this season.

Ings is clearly a fan favourite at Southampton currently and he may be key to helping the Saints improve their form this season to escape from the relegation zone.
