Last Saturday Southampton took a much-needed point from our trip to Dean Court to face Bournemouth as Premier League action returned after the October international lull.
Playing out a scoreless draw on the day, whilst there was no boost in confidence for the frontline as we continue to struggle for goals unless Liverpool loanee Danny Ings finds the back of the net, there was reason for defensive cheer with us keeping the clean sheet. Not only did we draw a line under three successive defeats, the clean sheet was massive having conceded eight goals in those matches.
Tough game today but happy with a clean sheet and a point away from home. Thanks for the support as always! 🙏#Saints pic.twitter.com/JI2x1qzca9

Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy played his part once again in the result, albeit he was quieter than normal given an improved defensive showing from those in front of him and the 28-year-old took to social media following the match to thank the fans for their support across the 90 minutes.

As can be seen from the above comments, fans who took the time to respond were hugely complimentary and whilst the frustration in the fan base is palpable, it’s nice to see some positive comments in amongst all the angst.
