Plenty of Southampton fans have been criticising striker Guido Carrillo once more as he celebrated his 29th birthday.
The club commemorated the occasion on their official Twitter account. However, it’s safe to say that the St Mary’s faithful were not as kind to him as the club’s admin was.
After his £19m move from AS Monaco in January 2018, the Argentinian striker has only made 10 appearances and was sent to the Spanish side Leganes on loan where has scored 10 goals in 56 appearances over the course of 18 months.
Is Carrillo Southampton's worst ever signing?
Yes
No
His future is still uncertain and admitted last summer that he was “hurt” by the club’s actions by sending him back to Spain.
Unsurprisingly and predictably, supporters did not wish him well and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he was the “biggest waste of money”, while another said that he “forgot he existed” and described him as a “glorified lamp post”.

One of Saints most expenses imports and sadly the biggest waste of money. I’m sure he is celebrating his birthday earning the millions he does!

I remember when Les Reed thought he pulled off the signing of the season when we got him when in reality he was just a glorified lamppost https://t.co/2DLIoH5qKR

Goodo. He’s now too old to play professional football. Not that he was ever good enough to play it in the first place
