Plenty of Southampton fans have been showering James Ward-Prowse with praise after a clip resurfaced from his side’s 1-1 draw against Everton last time out.

The 25-year-old produced a fine midfielder’s display at Goodison Park as his side managed to take a point from the encounter with the Toffees.

The club’s official Twitter account showcased a pass that the Englishman made, a first-time pass that switched the play to Nathan Redmond as Southampton were on the attack.

Does James Ward-Prowse deserve the captain's armband?

Ward-Prowse has been touted to take the captain’s armband from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who looks set to be joining Tottenham once the 2019/20 campaign draws to a close.

With this in mind, supporters were full of praise for Ward-Prowse and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described him as “elite”, while others stated it was a “champagne moment” and that he was an “outrageous player”.
