Plenty of Southampton fans have been commenting on Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho and his comments regarding young defender Kyle Walker-Peters.
Speaking to BBC Solent Sport, the Portuguese tactician stated that Spurs are keen to keep hold of him and has the love of chairman Daniel Levy, but insisted that he would not stand in his way if he decided to move to the South Coast on a permanent basis.
The 23-year-old right-back made the move in January and has not had a lot of time to bed into Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, following the temporary suspension of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.
Will Kyle Walker-Peters join Southampton permanently?
Yes
No
Despite this, he has started the last three games and Southampton have picked up 10 points from their first five games back, with Walker-Peters playing a crucial part in their performances.
Since his short stay at St Mary’s, Walker-Peters has started four Premier League games, averaged 2.3 tackles and has accumulated an average match rating from six appearances of 6.81, as per Whoscored.
As a result, supporters were delighted and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he would “fit in perfectly”, while another described it as “great news”.
He looks like a great player and a great match for the club. Fits in perfectly. Would be brilliant if we could get him permanently!

Great news. I really hope KWP wants to join us on a permanent transfer. He is a perfect fit for our team in the position we need filling. He plays with confidence and composure. I really like him. If it happens this will be the biggest bit of business this summer! 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️

Tottenham want Højbjerg; he wants to go. We want Walker-Peters; hopefully, he wants to come.
If ever a part-exchange deal could deliver a win-win situation, now’s the time to do it.

Would be a great permanent signing but for me the problem is Daniel Levy. I can see him overpricing KWP and valuing him around £20M and I’m sorry but he’s only worth atleast half that but Levy is a greedy twat and will squeeze as much out of us as he can!!

Remember we said we would be fine if we didn’t sign him and some said we shouldn’t sign him at all? Glad that times have changed😇
