Southampton fans took to social media to tell Moussa Djenepo they are looking forward to welcoming him next season after his team were eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations.

On his personal Twitter account, he posted that he was disappointed with the result. He added Mali are a young team and they are determined to return stronger next time. He then thanked the Malian people for their support.

His team were knocked-out by Ivory Coast after Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha scored the only goal of the game. Mali had chances with Moussa Marega and Djenepo squandering good chances. Ivory Coast now move on to play Algeria in the last eight.

The attacker joined Saints for £14.13million after an impressive season in Belgium last year, where he scored seven and provided three assists for Standard Liege.

Despite his low spirits, Saints fans tried to cheer Djenepo up by declaring they cannot wait to see him on the south coast next season.
